3 Ways To Make Your Home More Visible From The Street
Posted on: 30 June 2019
Whether you are thinking about listing your home on the market or you have a lot of trouble with delivery professionals being able to find your house, you might be wondering what you can do to make your place more visible from the street. Although it may seem difficult, making a few simple changes could streamline the location process for anyone who tries to track down your location. Here are three ways to make your house more visible from the street.
1. Clean Up Your Landscaping Mature landscaping can provide ample amounts of character and shade to your outdoor space, but unfortunately, overgrown trees, bushes, and vines can hide your home, especially if a lot of the foliage is close to the street or hangs down over your property.
However, by taking the time to go through and clean up your landscaping, you can significantly improve the view of your home. Consider hiring professional tree trimmers to take down or prune large, overgrown trees, and think about ripping out ivy or other vines that may be covering the surface of your home.
If you have invasive juniper bushes that have taken over your front yard, have a landscaping company come out and tear them up. Avoid planting any type of tree, bush, or some other plant that grows quickly, as you may find yourself with the same set of problems a few months down the road.
2. Try Backlit Address Numbers While many people have address numbers secured to their home, they aren't always easy to see-especially if the color of the numbers closely resembles the shade of your home's exterior. Fortunately, you can make those numbers stand out without having to paint them a neon shade.
Backlit address numbers are made with small LEDs on the other side, creating a highly visible drop shadow when the sun goes down. In addition to creating a polished look, backlit address numbers are incredibly easy to see from the street, simplifying the location process for your visitors.
3. Consider A New Paint Job While many people opt for painting their homes earth-tones or neutrals, those colors won't do much to help others to find your property. Instead, consider a brighter color, such as white or cream to help your property to stand out from its surroundings. To choose the most visible color possible, evaluate the colors the other homes on your street are painted, and think about choosing a lighter, brighter color that really stands out.
By taking the time to make small changes to your home's exterior, you may be able to make it easier for guests and delivery personnel to find your house. If you have continual problems with people not being able to find your house, consider drafting pre-written directions you can quickly text to people who are having trouble finding you.
