How To Add Natural Stone Into Your Bathroom

Posted on: 30 April 2020

Interior designers like Amber Lewis have made natural stone products a must-have when designing a home. By adding in some natural elements and texture into your home, it can really make it feel more curated and custom. If you don ot currently have any natural stone in your home, one of the best places to start is in a small space like your bathroom.

Natural Stone Sink

One really fun design trend to incorporate into your bathroom is a custom vanity with a stone sink that sits on the top. If you have an antique dresser that you don't know what to do with, you can always turn it into a vanity by having a cabinet maker drill components for plumbing into it. Then, you can have a natural stone sink set on the top. To make sure that the wood underneath the sink does not get damaged every time you turn the water on, consider either laying a piece of stone underneath the sink or sealing the wood with a really strong, waterproof sealant.

Natural Stone Flooring

Natural stone flooring is another fun way to incorporate this element into your bathroom. Fun patterns to consider are ones that look almost like a thin brick but that are made out of natural stone. Then, you can have them laid in a herringbone pattern to add a modern element. Just remember that although natural stone is a really resilient material, it can stain fairly easily if you get things like cleaners or water on it. One of the best ways to prevent this from happening is to seal the stone with an all-natural cleaner about every six months.

Natural Stone Shower

Another place you can add natural stone is inside the shower. If you don't want to deal with the hassle of having to seal the bottom of your shower, then consider doing something porcelain on the bottom and then adding in natural stone tile on the tile surround. Although you will still have to seal the shower walls, you shouldn't have to do it as often as you would with the base of the shower.

Depending on your budget and how much stone you want in your bathroom, you may want to incorporate all of these options or you may just want to choose one. To learn more about natural stone products, reach out to a supplier near you today.
